FoodTechBangladesh is a five-year programme (September 2022–August 2027) coordinated by Larive International B.V., a consultancy firm from the Netherlands, and LightCastle Partners Ltd., a consultancy firm from Bangladesh. The programme aims to develop the aquaculture sector in Bangladesh through a partnership between private sector companies from both countries.

This collaboration seeks to strengthen ties between the Netherlands and Bangladesh in aquaculture and enhance the commercial positioning of the sector in Bangladesh.

The goals of FoodTechBangladesh are to:

  • Improve the aquaculture value chain by stimulating collaboration between players along the value chain.
  • Enhance the technical performance of fish and shrimp breeders and farmers through on-site and online training.
  • Connect fish and shrimp breeders and farmers to end markets to reduce post-harvest loss and ensure value for breeders and farmers by minimizing the role of intermediaries.
  • Stimulate joint Bangladesh-Netherlands business activities to develop the aquaculture sector in Bangladesh.

Additionally, the partnership focuses on improving the technical performance of fish breeders and farmers in Bangladesh by demonstrating best practices and sharing knowledge. The programme’s interventions are expected to boost the average production of aquaculture breeders and farms by 10–15 times, utilizing advanced technologies, better hatchery and farm management practices, and improved protocols.
