As part of our ongoing commitment to shaping the future of work in Bangladesh, LightCastle Partners is proud to join 11 other organizations in the second phase of Oporajita: Collective Impact on the Future of Work in Bangladesh.

Building on the Foundation of Phase I

In Phase I, LightCastle led the Bunon 2030 initiative, which provided vital insights into the evolving landscape of the Ready-Made Garments (RMG) sector. A key outcome was the flagship report:
A Comprehensive Landscape Study of the Apparel Industry and the Future for Women Workers.”

This research formed the basis for high-level national advocacy and stakeholder dialogues on critical issues, including:

Additionally, LightCastle developed two targeted policy briefs—one for government stakeholders and another for industry players—designed to facilitate meaningful discussion and informed decision-making.

The insights from Phase I underscored the urgency of integrating automation and circularity, formalizing textile waste recycling, improving logistics, and reforming policies to ensure a resilient and sustainable RMG sector.

Moving from Insight to Action in Phase II

Phase II builds directly on the learnings of Phase I, moving from research to implementation. This phase aligns with evolving global priorities around sustainability and trade, and focuses on the transitional challenges faced by the RMG sector.

At its core, Phase II centers on two strategic themes:

  • Decarbonization of the RMG value chain
  • Enhancing worker well-being, particularly for women garment workers

These themes are crucial for ensuring the long-term resilience, competitiveness, and inclusivity of the industry.

In this phase, LightCastle will continue to play a pivotal role in:

  • Advocating for enabling policies
  • Engaging with key stakeholders—including policymakers and industry leaders
  • Promoting skills development and inclusive economic growth
  • Driving a just and green transition in the RMG sector
