LightCastle Partners has recently signed a contract with CSISA-MEA (Cereal Systems Initiative for South Asia Mechanization Extension Activity) for the research project titled, “Assessing Current and Alternative Financing Products and Delivery Channels in the Agricultural Machinery Market”. CSISA MEA is a five-year project, funded by USAID and implemented by CIMMYT and its partners: iDE and Georgia Institute of Technology (GT). LightCastle will support CSISA-MEA by conducting a landscape study of the agricultural machinery sector value chain actors and their access to finance in selected regions (Jashore, Bogura, Cox’s Bazar) in Bangladesh.
The current situation of the agricultural machinery financing landscape will be assessed by adopting a mixed-method approach with the goal to suggest ways to overcome bottlenecks in the current financial system and come up with feasible/innovative financing solutions to secure the future of Agri mechanization in Bangladesh. As such, action-oriented recommendations will be developed for CSISA-MEA and its stakeholders to develop partnerships in the future. The project is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2022.
