Job Overview
We are looking for an independent PR & Media consultant to support our team on a part-time, contract basis for individual events. In this role, you will lead or assist in creating and executing targeted PR strategies; secure meaningful media coverage before, during, and after each event, and ensure strong public visibility through press outreach, media relations, and post-event reporting.
This role is ideal for a freelance PR professional who thrives in fast-paced environments, loves storytelling, and has strong media connections.
Scope of Work (Per Event)
Pre-Event (Planning & Promotion):
- Collaborate with the internal team to develop a PR plan for the event, including target media lists, story angles, and timelines.
- Write and distribute press releases, media advisories, and pitch letters to relevant journalists, outlets, and influencers.
- Secure pre-event media placements, interviews, and features to drive buzz and attendance.
- Coordinate and schedule media coverage opportunities (e.g., interviews with speakers, behind-the-scenes access).
During the Event (On-Site or Remote Support):
- Act as the primary media contact during the event.
- Coordinate with journalists and photographers, manage media check-in, and ensure they have everything they need.
- Facilitate interviews with key speakers, organizers, or talent.
Post-Event (Follow-up & Reporting):
- Track all media coverage related to the event (traditional and digital).
- Prepare a comprehensive post-event PR & media coverage report
- Share media assets (photos, quotes, press releases) with press contacts as needed.
Maintain relationships for future collaborations.
Qualifications
Experience & Background:
- 7–10 years of experience in public relations, media coverage, or event communications (agency or freelance preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to pitch and secure media placements.
- Experience working PR for live events, brand launches, festivals, conferences, or pop-ups is a strong plus.
