Leadership Academy Session: Insights on Strategy and Growth 

On Sunday, 17 August 2025, LightCastle Partners hosted Mr. Raisul Kabir, CEO of Brain Station 23, as the guest facilitator for our Leadership Academy. The Leadership Academy is part of our ongoing initiative to nurture the growth of our senior management team by engaging with seasoned leaders who share their perspectives on leadership, business strategy, and personal development.

Mr. Kabir, who leads one of Bangladesh’s top software companies with a team of over 900 professionals, brought a wealth of experience from his entrepreneurial journey, from launching biponee.com, one of the country’s early e-commerce ventures, to building Brain Station 23 into a global technology partner.

The session, titled “Leadership & Strategy”, was rich with practical insights, real-world case studies, and strategic frameworks:

  • The Oil of Olay Story – Mr. Kabir shared how repositioning, branding, and pricing strategies can dramatically shift consumer perception and market success. The case emphasized the importance of testing assumptions and challenging conventional pricing models.
  • Playing to Win – He discussed the difference between playing to play versus playing to win, highlighting the critical strategic choices leaders must make: Where to play (markets, customer segments, product types) and How to win (cost leadership, differentiation, or leveraging strengths).
  • Crisis Management & Resilience – Drawing from Jim Collins’ books Good to Great and Great by Choice, Mr. Kabir outlined principles for thriving in turbulent environments:
    • Fanatic Discipline – staying true to the mission regardless of external pressure.
    • Empirical Creativity – making bold decisions grounded in data and evidence.
    • Productive Paranoia – preparing proactively for uncertainties.
    • Level 5 Ambition – leading with humility while pursuing audacious goals.

These principles resonated deeply with our team, offering both inspiration and actionable guidance on navigating complexity in today’s business landscape.
