A three-day Training of Trainers (ToT) session took place at the Savar Youth Training Centre under the PoultryTechBangladesh project. PoultryTechBangladesh organized the program, while Aeres Training Centre delivered the training. Held from November 24 to 26, the session aimed to strengthen the knowledge and practical skills of trainers working in Bangladesh’s youth development space within the poultry sector. Moreover, the program connected trainers with the extensive capacity-building network of the Department of Youth Development (DYD) under the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Government of Bangladesh.
The training began with an inauguration ceremony attended by senior representatives from DYD. As Chief Guest, Mr. A.K.M. Mofizul Islam, Director (Training), DYD, highlighted the deepening collaboration between Bangladesh and the Netherlands. He also emphasized the value of knowledge exchange and technology transfer in strengthening the poultry sector. The ceremony further featured the presence of key stakeholders, including Mr. Shahab Uddin Sarkar, Deputy Director (Training), and Mr. S.M. Mozibul Alam, Coordinator of the Savar Youth Training Centre. In addition, Ms. Ainan Tajrian, Senior Business Consultant at LightCastle Partners, introduced the PoultryTechBangladesh project and explained the broader context of the collaboration.
Over the three intensive days, 29 trainers from multiple divisions participated in structured learning sessions led by Aeres Training Centre. Mr. Helmich van Rees and Mr. Teus Korevaar, senior trainers from Aeres, conducted the sessions and shared expertise across critical areas of poultry management. Meanwhile, Ms. Faiza Tahiya from LightCastle Partners facilitated the sessions to ensure smooth coordination and engagement.
The training covered a wide range of technical and practical topics. These included biosecurity measures in poultry farming, innovations from the Netherlands’ layer sector, and their adaptability to Bangladesh. Furthermore, participants explored poultry production in hot climates, heat stress physiology in chickens, and effective recording and analysis techniques for both broilers and layers.
In addition to technical learning, the program emphasized interactive engagement. Trainers took part in group work, team-building activities, and presentations. Through these exercises, they exchanged insights on teaching approaches, curriculum effectiveness, practical training scope, and student employability after course completion.
On the final day, participants joined hands-on training at the Youth Training Centre’s poultry facility. They worked directly with Sonali and broiler chickens and applied knowledge gained during the earlier sessions. Subsequently, the group reflected on their experiences with the existing DYD poultry curriculum and discussed areas for improvement.
During the closing session, Mr. S.M. Mozibul Alam underscored the importance of practical learning and continuous curriculum updates to strengthen youth development initiatives nationwide. Additionally, the session reaffirmed the strength of the Bangladesh–Netherlands partnership in poultry development. Aeres also committed to continued support in curriculum redesign to enhance poultry education and hands-on training in Bangladesh.
Overall, the Training of Trainers program under PoultryTechBangladesh reflected a shared commitment by Bangladesh and the Netherlands. Through this collaboration, both sides aim to enhance technical skills, promote innovation adoption, and improve youth employability across Bangladesh’s poultry sector.
