On 28 December 2020, Bijon Islam, CEO and Co-founder of LightCastle, delivered a keynote on Climate Finance at a consultation workshop with the private sector titled “Investing in WATSAN, Climate Finance and Renewable Energy in Bangladesh: Market Analytics, Financing Instruments, and Networking”.
The workshop was organized by the Strengthening Institutional Capacity for SDGs Achievement in Bangladesh (SC4SDG) project in association with the Integrated National Financing Framework for Achieving SDGs in Bangladesh (INFF4SDGs) at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC), Dhaka. Multiple sector experts attended the workshop, which facilitated different sessions – plenary sessions, parallel sessions on market analytics as well as financing instruments, and a corporate mixer where distinguished speakers and participants (online and offline) discussed the existing market analytics, gaps, and opportunities, priorities of the private sector in relation to SDGs, required data, information and knowledge, current best practices, financing tools and changes needed to move forward for effective financing of SDGs.
During his keynote presentation, Bijon Islam spoke about the importance of green financing and also provided insights on how investment in climate would be critical over the next decade for Bangladesh as the country slowly plans to recover from the pandemic.
