LightCastle Partners has recently signed a contract with WaterAid for the project titled, Study on Water Utilities in Selected Urban Municipalities and Major Cities of Bangladesh. LightCastle will support WaterAid by identifying and mapping municipalities that ensure best practices when providing water and sanitation services to their inhabitants. This study aims to improve the state of the water supply and sanitation within the local government institutions of Bangladesh. The findings of the study will be included in a report, with a detailed analysis of the gaps discovered in the selected municipalities together with recommendations.
In addition, LightCastle will assess the municipality’s capacity to ensure water supply services, service modality, and tariff system including the challenges it faces to ensure such services by conducting a gap analysis and providing recommendations for supporting the marginalized communities. To chart the consumer perception of the existing water service level and deliver relevant recommendations, the study will conduct a total of 40 KIIs across Faridpur Paurashava, Mirasharai Paurashava, Kushtia Pourashava, Paikgacha Pourashava, Nilphamari Pourashava, Sunamganj Pourashava, Chapainawabganj Paurashava, and Chandpur Paurashava. The study is expected to be completed by 15 March 2021.
