Policy incentives have played a transformative role in the manufacturing sector of Bangladesh, resulting in over 90% of motorcycles and 85% of smartphones sold in the country being locally assembled or manufactured. With the introduction of the Draft Automobile Policy 2020, the government has set its sights on the automobile industry, offering fresh policy incentives. Bangladesh aims to emulate the achievements of India, where the automobile industry contributes to an impressive 49% of manufacturing GDP and 4.3% of the country’s exports.
