The most common question we hear at career fairs is, “Are there any student opportunities at LightCastle?” They also ask how they can prepare for these opportunities and how these positions can help them develop their skills.
Many believe that an internship is the only entry point into corporate life and gaining practical experience and exposure. While that’s true to some extent, there are numerous part-time opportunities available that allow students to learn and grow while continuing their studies.
At LightCastle Partners, we offer several opportunities for students to contribute and develop their skills. The details are as follows:
This position offers an excellent opportunity for 3rd- and 4th-year students to showcase and develop their writing and analytical skills. This freelance, part-time role is ideal for students with communication skills, experience, or published write-ups. Writing samples are a very important part of the selection process for this position. Therefore, submitting one or more samples is mandatory when applying.
Responsibilities: The role primarily involves writing articles (both long and short) for our website based on specific economic or industry-related topics. Occasionally, it may require conducting quantitative analyses using primary data, such as survey data, or qualitative interviews like Key Information Interviews (KIIs), which may be conducted online or via phone. This provides students with valuable exposure to data analysis and helps them enhance their writing skills.
Benefits: The position is entirely remote and part-time (paid), with task distribution aligned with students’ class schedules, taking into account midterms and finals if necessary. Tasks and deliverables are assigned with set deadlines. Articles are published with the names of the author as well as the supervisor, which means that content writers receive credit for their work, enabling them to build a strong portfolio that can strengthen their resume.
While the Junior Associate role is similar to that of an internship, the difference is that this is a part-time role that can be undertaken by 3rd & 4th Year students, unlike internships that require full-time commitment.
However, opportunities for this role are limited as Junior Associates are not very frequently recruited. This modality of work is suited for specific types of work. However, this is one of the best opportunities for students to gather real-world industry skills that will enhance their employability down the line.
Responsibilities: The roles and responsibilities vary depending on the team. For instance, for Junior Associates in our Management & Consulting team, tasks include content writing, visual content creation (mainly using Canva), maintaining content flow, uploading regular content, and keeping the content tracker updated.
Whereas, for those in the Marketing team, the focus is more on marketing-related tasks, including assisting with content development, uploading content, and helping manage overall operational work.
Benefits: In this role, students can gain exposure to corporate life by working only 20- 25 hours a week. While there is flexibility, 1-2 days of in-person office work may be required, which are scheduled after taking into account exams, classes, and other academic commitments of the associate. This allows them to gain practical exposure to office settings and opportunities to network with professionals, enabling them to learn valuable skills and earn industry experience without compromising academic pursuits.
Individuals interested in Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), KIIs, and fieldwork, can easily apply for the Field Research Coordinator/Enumerator and gain more experience. This role requires knowledge and experience in extracting data from people and familiarity with data collection tools. We hire people from various regions of the country to collect data for our research projects.
Responsibilities:
Benefits: This is a contractual role where we reach out to individuals based on project needs. As it requires working during specific time frames, this flexible role is perfect for students to undertake during semester breaks or besides their academic work. If required, they may need to travel within their district to collect data. The company offers a daily stipend that can cover accommodation, administrative, travel, and other associated expenses.
Finally, we come to the most sought-after opportunity that we have for students at LightCastle — the Trainee Consultant position, which is a full-time internship position. Students who have completed all their undergraduate courses have the chance to apply for this position. This opportunity serves as a gateway for fresh graduates to closely explore the work environment at the organization and gain hands-on experience by working full-time as an intern. Contrary to typical perceptions of internships, our interns are integral members of our projects, contributing significantly to our core work.
Responsibilities: The Trainee Consultant position is available across various teams, including Ecosystem and Investments, Management & Development Consulting, Business Development, and Brands & Marketing. Responsibilities will vary depending on the team, but overall, interns will be essential parts of their teams, working collaboratively under the supervision of a designated supervisor.
Benefits: This is a paid internship that provides hands-on experience by allowing graduates to work on serious value-adding work under the mentorship of experienced supervisors. After a four-month period, based on performance and the availability of positions, high-performing trainees may be offered a permanent role.
