Capacity Strengthening & Sensitization Session for Department of Women Affairs Officials Supported by WFP and LightCastle

‘Enabling Digital Financial Inclusion and Women’s Economic Empowerment in Vulnerable Women Groups,’ a programme jointly implemented by the World Food Programme (WFP) in association with the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs (MoWCA) and funded by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, commenced Phase 2 in October.

Such efforts are part of a broader plan to empower social safety net payment (SSNP) beneficiaries with financial literacy support, guide the supply side actors to develop code of conduct modules and implement advocacy initiatives. As a part of the implementation programme, the capacity development component was delivered for two audience groups: Tottho Apa and MoWCA officials.

The day-long sessions for DWA Officials were jointly hosted by the World Food Programme (WFP) and the Department of Women Affairs (DWA), with technical support from LightCastle Partners on the 16th, 20th, and 28th of November. The goal of the sessions was to train DWA officials from 64 districts on how digital financial inclusion can foster poverty alleviation and women’s economic empowerment.

Trainers included Lutfur Rahman, a development professional with 20-plus years of experience; Gazi Yar Mohammed, Co-Founder & CEO, Dana Fintech; and Md. Mubassir Rahman, Project Manager, LightCastle Partners.
