CIRCO Hub Bangladesh Completes Trainer Development to Institutionalize Circular Design Capabilities

In a step toward embedding sustainable industrial design capabilities in Bangladesh. LightCastle Partners, working in collaboration with CIRCO International and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, has successfully concluded the first phase of its Training of Trainers (ToT) programme. The CIRCO Hub Bangladesh training initiative represents a key milestone in the operationalization of CIRCO Hub Bangladesh. With a strategic focus on building a local pool of certified circularity specialists to support the country’s transition toward a circular economy.

The CIRCO Hub Bangladesh training programme was delivered on December 24, 2025, and January 15, 2026. Facilitated by senior trainers from CIRCO International. A total of 10 participants were selected through a predefined assessment matrix to ensure a balanced mix of internal expertise from LightCastle Partners and external specialists drawn from academia, private enterprises, and the development sector, all with skillsets directly relevant to circular design and business transformation.

The training followed a structured, blended learning approach:

  • Methodological Alignment: Participants completed a two-day intensive programme. Designed to align them with the CIRCO agenda, its methodology, and the analytical tools required to redesign business models for circularity.
  • Applied, Experiential Learning: To ground the training in real-world industry dynamics, each trainee was embedded with a participating organization. During the concurrent three-day CIRCO Track workshop. This “tagging” approach enabled trainers to experience the programme from a participant’s perspective. While actively supporting the development of live circular business propositions.

A core objective of the ToT programme is to enable CIRCO Hub Bangladesh to operate independently and sustainably over the medium term. In line with the project’s technical framework. The target is to develop certified trainers. They will be capable of independently activating local companies. And guiding them through the development and implementation of circular business models.

It is anticipated that subsequent CIRCO Tracks will be delivered by two to three of these newly trained local specialists, under the supervision of experienced international trainers. This phased handover model is designed to ensure continuity in quality while progressively localizing Dutch expertise and tailoring it to the socio-economic realities of Bangladesh’s manufacturing sector.

Beyond firm-level transformation, the trained specialists will act as “Circularity Ambassadors”. Driving broader industry uptake and generating evidence-based insights to inform government efforts to develop a more enabling legislative and policy framework for circularity.
