As part of the ongoing efforts under the FoodTechBangladesh program, a second Centre of Excellence (CoE) is nearing completion in Cox’s Bazar. The CoE is introducing cutting-edge In-Pond Raceway System (IPRS) technology to boost aquaculture yields sustainably. Developed in partnership with FishTech BD, the CoE marks another milestone in enhancing productivity and promoting best practices in the sector.
The IPRS setup is currently in the final stages of construction and is expected to be operational soon. Once active, the facility will serve as a demonstration and training hub for local farmers, providing hands-on exposure to a high-efficiency fish farming system that significantly increases output while reducing environmental impact.
IPRS is a water-efficient, land-optimized fish farming method that enables precise control over water quality, feed usage, and fish health—making it an ideal solution for regions like Cox’s Bazar, where land and resources are limited. By confining fish to raceways within a pond and using continuous water circulation, the technology improves survival rates, feed conversion, and overall farm profitability.
Through this CoE, FoodTechBangladesh aims to train and equip 200 local farmers, replicating the impact model set by the Khulna CoE. The initiative builds on the program’s commitment to sustainable aquaculture growth through the adoption of technology, capacity building, and international collaboration.
