On 25 September 2025, FoodTechBangladesh organized a Stakeholder Networking Dinner at the residence of the Honorable Ambassador of the Netherlands in Dhaka. The event culminated in the signing of three Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) with leading retailers in Bangladesh: Meena Bazaar, Direct Fresh Ltd., and Bengal Meat.
The agreements were signed by Mr. Shameem Ahmed Jaigirder, Chief Operating Officer of Meena Bazaar; Mr. Tanvir Sifat, Executive Director of Direct Fresh Ltd.; and Mr. Nadim Hossain, Head of Budget & Planning of Bengal Meat. The signing ceremony marks a collective commitment to strengthening aquaculture value chains, enhancing quality control, and ensuring a consistent supply of fresh, high-quality fish to the domestic market in Bangladesh.
The Stakeholder Networking Dinner was hosted by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Bangladesh, represented by Nicolaas Jan Koos Dijkstra, Deputy Head of Mission of the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, alongside Mr. Tim Spaans, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and Mr. Osman Haruni, Senior Policy Advisor of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
The overview of the FoodTechBangladesh initiative was presented by Rogier Becker, Emerging Markets Advisor, and Laura Derks, Senior International Project Manager and Programme Manager at Larive International, while the event was hosted by Mr. Priyo Pranto, Senior Business Consultant at LightCastle Partners. At the event, stakeholders engaged in forward-looking discussions centered on scaling production, deploying lab-based testing, installing IPRS systems, and exploring opportunities in the export market. They shared a vision to transform Bangladesh’s aquaculture sector into a more professional, resilient, and sustainable industry.
By establishing these strategic partnerships and creating a forum for cross-sector dialogue, FoodTechBangladesh reinforces its commitment to enabling inclusive growth in aquaculture—impacting producers, supply chains, and end consumers alike.
FoodTechBangladesh is a six-year public-private partnership (PPP) co-funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Bangladesh. Co-implemented by Larive International and LightCastle Partners, the programme aims to enhance Bangladesh’s aquaculture sector through sustainable and scalable interventions. FTB focuses on enhancing technical performance, minimizing post-harvest losses, and linking fish farmers to end markets. Key initiatives include establishing Centres of Excellence in Khulna, Mymensingh, Patuakhali, and Cox’s Bazar, providing training to over 1,800 farmers, and conducting research on innovative aquaculture practices.
