FoodTechBangladesh successfully onboarded more than 800 aquaculture farmers across Khulna, Patuakhali, Cox’s Bazar, and Mymensingh through a two-week field-level rollout of the Aqua Coach Farmers’ App, starting on 20 September 2026. The initiative marks an important step in promoting the adoption of digital technologies and improving farm management practices across Bangladesh’s aquaculture sector.
Developed by De Heus, one of the consortium partners of FoodTechBangladesh, Aqua Coach helps farmers manage their operations through digital recordkeeping. The application allows farmers to record and monitor farm-level information, supporting better planning, informed decision-making, and more efficient farm management.
As part of the rollout, the LightCastle Partners data team, in coordination with Larive International, conducted door-to-door visits across the four regions. The team visited individual farms, introduced Aqua Coach, and guided farmers through the onboarding process. These visits also helped identify farmers’ needs and challenges in adopting digital tools.
The rollout exceeded its initial target of 800 farmers, reflecting the value of combining digital solutions with direct farmer engagement. The initiative also builds on FoodTechBangladesh’s previous capacity-building training sessions. Under this programme, more than 1,000 farmers received online and offline training on Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS) and In-Pond Raceway Systems (IPRS), facilitated by FishTech (BD) Limited and Gemini Seafood PLC.
Beyond onboarding, the LightCastle Partners data team will continue to support farmers through data-entry assistance and regular follow-ups. This support will help farmers maintain accurate records and use Aqua Coach in their daily operations. It will also encourage long-term adoption of digital farm management practices.

Overall, the initiative reinforces FoodTechBangladesh’s commitment to building a more sustainable and technology-driven aquaculture sector. By bringing digital solutions directly to farmers, the programme aims to improve farm management, strengthen farmer capacity, and accelerate technology adoption across Bangladesh.
