LightCastle Partners has been commissioned to conduct a comprehensive Trade and Investment Landscape Analysis of Bangladesh for Swiss businesses, with support from the Embassy of Switzerland. The study will generate actionable market intelligence to help Swiss exporters, SMEs and investors identify priority sectors, understand market-entry conditions and connect with local business opportunities, while equipping the Embassy to guide and facilitate Swiss commercial engagement.
Switzerland and Bangladesh share a strong trade foundation. Annual bilateral trade has stayed above USD 1 billion for four consecutive years and has more than tripled since 2010, yet engagement remains concentrated in a limited number of sectors. Meanwhile, Bangladesh’s growing demand for machinery, technology, pharmaceuticals, chemicals and other higher-value products, together with its Least Developed Country (LDC) graduation process and an evolving trade, investment and regulatory landscape, makes timely market intelligence increasingly relevant. This project will examine how Swiss businesses, particularly SMEs, can translate that potential into concrete export and investment opportunities across priority sectors.
Throughout this project, LightCastle will:
This study equips the Swiss Embassy and Swiss businesses with the insights needed to make evidence-based export and investment decisions in Bangladesh. By matching Swiss strengths with Bangladesh’s import demand, it creates a foundation for broader and more diversified bilateral commercial ties. Findings will be shared through Embassy-only facilitation guides and publicly available opportunity booklets.
The initiative represents LightCastle Partners’ commitment to producing rigorous market analysis that connects global expertise with the unique needs of emerging markets. Ultimately, it will help Swiss SMEs and investors enter and grow in Bangladesh with greater confidence, while supporting a more resilient and diversified Switzerland–Bangladesh trade and investment relationship.
