PoultryTechBangladesh Hosts Feed Milling Workshop and Networking Dinner

On November 20th, 2024, PoultryTechBangladesh organized a Feed-milling workshop followed by a networking dinner for stakeholders. The session was led by Van Aarsen and Nutreco, two consortium members of the PoultryTechBangladesh project. Van Aarsen is a prominent manufacturer and supplier of advanced machinery and comprehensive feed mill and premix plant solutions, while Nutreco is a global leader in animal nutrition and aquafeed. 

More than 40 officials from various organizations, including Paragon, Provita, Aftab, Nourish Feed, Quality Feed, New Hope Feed, City Group, Astha Feed, and Aman Feed, participated in the workshop.

Md. Nazrul Islam, General Secretary of the Feed Industries Association Bangladesh (FIAB), delivered the opening speech, emphasizing the significance of both high-quality genetics and feed for poultry. Furthermore, he underscored the proficiency and considerable number of STEM graduates within the sector, who possess the capability to swiftly acquire technological knowledge and expertise. Next, Mr. Roger Ubags, Area Sales Manager for Southeast Asia at Van Aarsen International B.V., delivered a presentation on the company’s operations, along with an overview of sustainable feed milling practices in Europe and energy efficiency measures. Mr. Amzad Hossain, Sales Manager at Nutreco, discussed optimal feed storage practices, strategies for preventing toxin contamination, and the potential impact of climate change on the poultry industry as a whole. 

Haruni Osman, Senior Policy Advisor for Food & Nutrition Security at the Embassy of the Netherlands in Bangladesh, delivered the closing remarks, commending the knowledge and technology transfer facilitated through the PoultryTechBangladesh partnership between Dutch and Bangladeshi companies. He also introduced PUM, a Dutch consulting organization comprising experts from various sectors, to the audience, encouraging small to mid poultry companies to leverage upon the availability of valuable advice and support for poultry companies when needed. In conclusion, he expressed his hope that the impact of PoultryTechBangladesh would reach beyond large corporations, benefiting small and medium-sized enterprises as well as smallholder farmers.

The session was moderated by Nishat Binte Mohiuddin, Business Consultant at LightCastle.
