LightCastle Partners is pleased to be onboarded by the Centre for the Promotion of Imports from developing countries (CBI) as the consulting partner for a strategic multi-year initiative to advance the export readiness of Bangladesh’s Small Leather Goods (SLG) sector. The project is designed to foster an ecosystem of socially compliant, export-oriented SMEs that can meet EU standards while upholding decent work and sustainable manufacturing practices.
With a strong focus on gender inclusion, improved workplace conditions, and better representation for workers, this initiative is aligned with CBI’s mission to strengthen the capacity of SMEs in developing economies. LightCastle will work closely with stakeholders across the public and private sectors—such as LFMEAB, BSCIC, EPB, and certification bodies like Amfori and SEDEX—to promote social compliance, catalyse financial services, and embed design and quality training across the value chain.
By applying a dual-pathway approach—focusing on social compliance and ecosystem development—this engagement will support the transformation of over 20 SMEs into EU-compliant exporters, directly improving job quality for more than 5,000 workers and unlocking access to high-value markets. The project will also emphasize sector branding, youth and women’s inclusion, and the development of a cross-sectoral collaboration platform.
Building on field-level research, stakeholder consultations, and international benchmarking, LightCastle Partners will support CBI in generating insights to shape the future of Bangladesh’s leather goods sector, ensuring that the voices of workers and women in the supply chain are heard and reflected in sector-wide improvements.
