To enhance sustainable poultry production and promote best practices in farm management and biosecurity, One Health Poultry Hub Bangladesh, PoultryTechBangladesh, and the Department of Livestock Services jointly organized a series of training programmes.
The first two-day training took place on 5–6 May 2025 in Sitakunda Upazila, Chattogram. The second was held on 13–14 May 2025 in Gazipur Sadar Upazila, Gazipur. Both events engaged small and medium-scale broiler farmers.
The training covered essential topics for modern poultry farming, including chick selection, brooding, vaccination, disease prevention, biosecurity, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and final-week flock management. Trainers particularly emphasized zoonotic disease prevention, responsible antibiotic use, and probiotic alternatives.
The Chattogram programme began with welcome remarks from Professor Dr. Md. Ahasanul Hoque (Director, One Health Institute, CVASU), Dr. Kollol Barua (Upazila Livestock Officer), and Dr. Rashed Mahmud (Research Manager, One Health Poultry Hub Bangladesh). In Gazipur, Dr. Shahin Mia (Upazila Livestock Officer), Dr. Rashed Mahmud, and Dr. S.M. Harun-Or-Rashid (Veterinary Surgeon, CVASU) opened the session.
On the first day, trainers used interactive lectures, multimedia presentations, group activities, and problem-based learning. Participants also joined a live Zoom consultation with poultry expert Dr. Md. Masuduzzaman (CVASU), who addressed specific farm-related concerns.
Farm visit at Sitakunda where participants assess biosecurity practices
A major highlight of the second day was the practical field visit, where farmers assessed the implementation of biosecurity measures on real farms. This hands-on approach allowed them to apply theoretical knowledge in context, conduct site evaluations, and engage in group discussions. Dr. Shahidul Islam from Nourish Poultry & Hatchery Ltd led the debriefing session in Gazipur. Dr. Ismail Hossain from Dhaka Group provided closing guidance on biosecurity improvements in Chattogram.

The training concluded with a certificate award ceremony, recognizing the successful completion of the programme. This initiative strengthened capacity building, encouraged peer learning, and promoted practical knowledge adoption. As a result, it is expected to improve animal health, boost farm productivity, and enhance public health outcomes in the local poultry sector.
