LightCastle Partners hosted a virtual webinar titled “Navigating Global Startup Funding Undercurrents” on 28th November 2022. The webinar was organized in partnership with Startup Bangladesh Limited, Anchorless Bangladesh, Bangladesh Angels, and BD Startup Founders.
To put in context – Post-pandemic recovery, the Russia-Ukraine war, supply-chain disruptions, currency devaluation, and inflation are leading to economic downturns worldwide. This has led to the global startup investment landscape’s slowdown in funding rate – down by 34% from USD 113 Bn to USD 75 Bn over the last quarter. Bangladeshi startups have also felt the growing gap in global funding, raised only USD 5 Mn in the Quarter, 3 – 5% of the total USD 95 Mn raised so far this year.
The dialogue addressed pressing concerns about the global funding winter and how startups should tackle the current situation and approach investors for a further round of funding. Notable local and global experts from the startup ecosystem shared their views on the topic. They provided their opinions on how to survive in current conditions from investors’ and startups’ standpoints.
