LightCastle Partners Shares Insights at Webinar on Agro-Logistics Opportunities in Bangladesh

LightCastle Partners participated in a webinar titled “Agro-logistics System in Bangladesh and Investment & Business Opportunities for the Netherlands”, where the organization shared insights on Bangladesh’s policy landscape and structural challenges shaping the country’s agro-logistics ecosystem.

The webinar was organized with participation from stakeholders including the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Bangladesh, Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), Innovision Consulting, the University of Dhaka, and other ecosystem partners.

During the sessionPriyo Pranto, Senior Business Consultant of LightCastle Partners, delivered a presentation on the policy landscape surrounding agro-logistics and post-processing systems in Bangladesh. The discussion highlighted key regulatory frameworks governing the sector, including the National Agriculture Policy, Food Safety Act 2013, Export Policy 2024-27, and the National Industrial Policy 2022, which collectively shape the development of agro-processing, logistics infrastructure, and export compliance systems in the country.

The presentation emphasized several structural constraints affecting Bangladesh’s agro-logistics ecosystem. These include fragmented value chains with multiple intermediaries, limited cold-chain infrastructure beyond potato storage, high freight costs, and inadequate multimodal connectivity. Such gaps significantly affect the efficiency of agricultural supply chains and limit the country’s ability to fully capitalize on its strong agricultural production base.

According to sector estimates shared during the webinar, Bangladesh’s agro-logistics market across key sub-sectors is valued at approximately USD 10.5 billion, while inefficiencies in logistics and supply chains contribute to substantial economic leakage each year.

Through the session, LightCastle Partners underscored the need for coordinated investments in cold chain infrastructure, logistics modernization, and policy alignment to unlock new opportunities for both domestic and international stakeholders.

The webinar served as a platform to present research findings, discuss policy priorities, and identify potential collaboration opportunities between Bangladeshi and Dutch stakeholders working to advance sustainable and efficient agro-logistics systems.
