LightCastle Partners recently played a lead facilitation role at a two-day divisional workshop on green and inclusive financing, held in Sylhet under the aegis of the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF).
The workshop brought together branch-level bankers and financial institution representatives from across the division to deepen their understanding of startup financing frameworks and the barriers facing small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in accessing green finance.
Representing LightCastle Partners, Ashik Muntakim, Senior Business Consultant, led two of the workshop’s core sessions:

The workshop was organized with support from the Embassy of Switzerland in Bangladesh, in partnership with UNCDF, OneTrueValue, and LightCastle Partners, as part of a broader initiative to strengthen the financial sector’s capacity to support green and inclusive growth across Bangladesh’s regions.
Key Insights from the Engagement from the Green and Inclusive Financing Workshop
A notable highlight of the workshop was the level of engagement from branch-level bankers, many of whom work closest to the entrepreneurs and small businesses these policies are designed to serve.
Participants demonstrated strong curiosity and genuine enthusiasm around startups, venture financing, and the mechanisms available to support early-stage enterprises — signaling that the push to bridge traditional banking with early-stage enterprise growth is resonating well beyond the policy level and is increasingly becoming a shared priority on the ground.
This grassroots interest reflects a broader shift within Bangladesh’s financial ecosystem, where regulatory efforts such as Bangladesh Bank’s Master Circular on Startup Financing are beginning to translate into on-the-ground conversations about how banks can practically extend credit to startups and green enterprises alike.
The two-day divisional workshop was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Embassy of Switzerland in Bangladesh, the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF), OneTrueValue, and LightCastle Partners — organizations united in their commitment to building a more inclusive and sustainable financial landscape for Bangladesh’s entrepreneurs and small businesses.
