PoultryTechBangladesh Hosts Workshop on Poultry Processing and Stakeholder Networking Dinner

Bangladesh’s appetite for formally processed poultry products is steadily increasing, driven by urban growth and changing lifestyles. In a span of 6 years, daily poultry meat consumption grew from 17.3 grams per person in 2016 to 26.2 grams in 2022 —signaling both improved nutritional access and the growing popularity of convenient, ready-to-cook options.

The shift opens up exciting avenues for the poultry processing industry to scale up and better serve a fast-changing market landscape. However, to fully unlock this potential, key challenges must be addressed—including the need for formal slaughterhouses, better access to finance, improved cold chain infrastructure and a convenient certification process.

To this end, on April 9, 2025, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Bangladesh, together with Larive International, LightCastle Partners, and the Bangladesh Poultry Industries Central Council (BPICC) hosted a poultry processing workshop at Renaissance Dhaka.

The session was part of the ongoing PoultryTechBangladesh partnership aimed at facilitating increased trade and investment between the Netherlands and Bangladesh. Marel – one of the consortium members of the project and a leading global provider of industrial food processing equipment, conducted the session.

Over 30 officials and representatives from various organizations—including Paragon, Aftab, Bengal Meat, AG Food, Pran, Provita, EON Foods, Quality Integrated Agro and ACI Godrej—participated in the workshop.
