LightCastle Partners recently arranged a Fruit Fest to celebrate the natural bounties of the peak summer season in Bangladesh, offering a variety of seasonal fruits for the team to savour.
The event began with a splendid presentation involving detailed value chain analyses of jackfruits and mangoes in Bangladesh. Samiha Anwar, Business Consultant, and Rakinul Islam, Business Analyst, from the Management and Development Consulting team prepared and delivered the presentation.
The presentation shed light on the annual production, current exports, export potential, and many other data points pertaining to both fruits. While Bangladesh possesses tremendous potential to benefit from the abundant growth of mangoes and jackfruits, especially in terms of export potential, this potential is not being fully leveraged due to numerous challenges such as high perishability and low shelf-life, lack of knowledge and adherence to international standards such as GAP, outdated processing methods, and many others.
The presentation served as an enlightening session, giving the team fresh insights into the mango and jackfruit sub-sectors. It concluded with a short yet lively discussion, after which the feast truly began.
An assortment of multiple local fruits was served after the session, giving the team more than enough to explore and relish. For instance, there were multiple varieties of mangoes, as well as jackfruit, pineapple, lychee, and guava, to name a few.
On the whole, it was an enjoyable occasion for the whole team; and provided everyone a respite from the humdrum of everyday work life. It gave them the opportunity to converse and bond with each other in a more relaxed setting while enjoying a rich platter of seasonal Bangladeshi fruits.
